A Message from CHEA President Skip Henke
Greetings & Aloha,
As the saying goes, “Time flies when you are having fun.†This year I can honestly say, “Where has the year gone?†Karen and I have had so much fun traveling around California and Hawaii spreading the word of Elkdom with all of you. Now as we look forward to our Homecoming and the CHEA Annual Convention in San Diego, we cannot believe the year is almost over.
Our Homecoming visit will pretty much bring an end to our travels and is planned to be a wonderful event. As usual, there will be some meetings and much business to be taken care of. For pleasure and relaxation, on Friday night, several Lodges in the Metropolitan District will be hosting dinners and there are many sites in the area that you may choose to visit.
The highlight of the weekend will be a Saturday evening dinner at CBS Studios. It should be an enjoyable evening with a most inspiring guest speaker. We hope to see many of you there.
As you all know, increasing our membership has been my primary goal for this year. We are now on the verge of being a “plus†state for the first time in many years. We only have a few days left in the Elk Year to complete a final push over the top. I urge every Lodge to make one final effort to have the members on the delinquent list pay their dues and to initiate all of the candidates that are in the process of becoming members. I ask you to join your District Vice Presidents, who are also known as “Skip’s Recruiters,†in making this final membership drive.
Just imagine – what a “Glow†we get from gaining members instead of losing them. What a great 100-year Anniversary we will celebrate in San Diego with a growing membership.
We have had a very good year in receiving donations to the Major Project and to ENF. As of this date, we are ahead of last years’ ENF contributions. Let’s make the Exalted Rulers March in San Diego another record year!
Keep up the good work of our Order, and “Feel the Glow of Elkdom.â€
Fraternally and Sincerely,
Skip Henke, President
California-Hawaii Elks Association
