As the beautiful desert afternoon became evening  Saturday, October 19th, it was like mid-Manhattan, NY at the Lancaster Elks Lodge featuring the live action of the first cabaret.  The evening’s festivities began with cocktails and “easy-listening” music provided by DJ Wayne Ray, followed with a delicious dinner (champagne chicken, creamy pasta and veggies) prepared by “The Godfather’s Chef”, Dominic Rotell (PDDGER, D/L, Lodge Secretary) and his “Mob”.  The sumptuous dinner put the guests in partying mode with MC (crooner) Bobby Brink (PER) –former opening act for legendary Hawaiian singer Don Ho –bringing out everyone’s “singing-spirit”.  With 15 very talented amateur and professional  performances by entertainers including:  Jeannie Wood, Sharon Freeman, Dennis Cajas, Warren Gust (PER) and Joyce Pearson with the “Boogie Woogie Mammas”, the audience continuously showed appreciation and applause for all who made this fun-filled event.

     This inaugural event was organized by Sandy Brown-Rotell (Esquire to DDGER, Gene Burnett) and co-chairperson Jeannie Wood, after prompting by CHEA President Richard “Dick” McDonald to rebuild the camaraderie and Elkdom that has been fading between lodges and districts.  The Lancaster Lodge was pleased to host guests from Hesperia Lodge No. 2646, Mojave Lodge No. 2059 and Santa Clarita Lodge No. 2379.  With over 115 tickets sold several attendees expressed enthusiasm for next years’ event.
