Thousand Oaks Lodge #2477 Prepares for Ventura County Standdown
May 4, 2012
Air Force Sergeant Modesto Quijano and Airman Orozco pick up clothing and toiletries provided by the Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge #2477 for the 20th Ventura County Standdown, July 20-22, 2012. Carl Lanterman (right), Chairman-National Services and Terry Gicking (left), Past Exalted Ruler brought clothing from the Elks Lodge to the offices of Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks. The offices provided for temporary storage until storage could be set up at the 146th Airlift Wing in Oxnard. In July, the clothing and other supplies will be taken to the California National Guard Armory in Ventura for the 3-day standdown, with expected attendance of 150 homeless veterans. Carl also serves as the chairman-transportation on the executive board with Founder and Chairperson Claire Hope. The Thousand Oaks lodge also teams with Ventura, Oxnard and Simi Valley lodges to provide 200 bag lunches and gifts for the exit ceremony on Sunday, and with the Thousand Oaks VFW to provide other sundry items.
Elks doing what they do best! Helping Veterans. I feel proud that I am able to contribute in helping with the Ventura County Stand Down. You can help too! If you live in the area from Goleta, Oxnard, Newbury Park, Simi Valley, West Hills & Northridge, you can go to CHILI’S Bar & Grill on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, the 25th, 26th, 27th of June and mention that you are there to help support the VC Stand Down and 15% of your meals will be used to help the Homeless Vets at the Stand Down. Chili’s will be donating the proceeds to the Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge and The Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge #2477 will be donating it to the Stand Down. Can you imagine if everyone went there to eat on those 3 days how wonderful that would be. You could have lunch and dinner all 3 days! You are eating so they can be helped! And you need to eat! Any questions, feel free to call JB Bre at 805-312-1903. Another way to help is to go to the Stand Down website, venturacountystanddown.com and click on the donate button. Remember, this is Elks making a difference by helping our Vets. Thank You in advance for your support!
I would like to be added to the list for future stand downs. I live in Culver City, Ca near LAX.
