How To Join The Elks
Becoming an Elk means joining a proud, exclusive organization dedicated to community service, camaraderie, and tradition. Membership is by sponsorship, ensuring that each new member shares in the values of the Order.
To qualify for membership in the Elks, you must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Be an American citizen
- Believe in God
If you meet these three criteria, the next step is to find a current Elk to sponsor you.
- Locate a Lodge near you – Visit your local Lodge and sign the visitor’s book.
- Speak with Lodge staff – If the office is busy, schedule a time to ask questions about membership.
- Complete the Membership Form – Fill out the application completely. You’ll need a sponsor.
- Pay the Application Fee – Fees vary by Lodge.
- Undergo Investigation and Orientation – Your application will be reviewed, and you’ll attend an orientation.
Initiation Night – Celebrate your official entry into the Order.
Once initiated, you can visit any Lodge in the United States and enjoy:
- Respect, hospitality, and kindness from fellow members
- Networking and lifelong friendships
- Access to social, charitable, and community events
- A sense of belonging to a nationwide tradition of service
Remember: Always carry and show your membership card when visiting other Lodges.
